Jonterri Gadson is a 2018 American Black Film Festival | Kevin Hart's Laugh Out Loud Network Film Fellow for her comedic short, Bliss House, which will premiere at ABFF in June. Her original half hour comedy pilot, Blurs, was named the Best Comedy Script at the 2017 New York Television Festival, where her web series pitch was awarded a development deal with Topic/First Look Media. She was chosen for the Refinery 29/TBS Riot Comedy Writers Lab in December 2017. She wrote for an all-female comedy show called The Box in New York City. In 2016, she was selected for the NBC Late Night Writers Workshop and she currently directs a Boogie Manja sketch comedy team that puts up new live shows every month at the People's Improv Theater.
She is the author of the full length poetry collection Blues Triumphant (YesYes Books, 2016) and two chapbooks, Interruptions (MIEL, 2014) and Pepper Girl (YesYes Books, 2012).
She has been awarded scholarships and fellowships from Cave Canem, Bread Loaf, University of Virginia's Creative Writing MFA program and the Herbert W. Martin Post-Graduate Creative Writing Fellowship at the University of Dayton in Ohio.
She currently serves as the Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Bloomfield College in New Jersey.
